Super Bowl Sunday!
The Superbowl is the highest level of professional American football, a championship help by the NFL. The first Super Bowl was played January 15th 1967. The first Super Bowl was played as part of a merging agreement between the NFL and the AFL. The first Super Bowl was played between the Green Bay Packers of the National Football League (NFL) smash the American Football League (AFL)’s Kansas City Chiefs. The Green Bay Packers won 35-10. Although there was anticipation for the game, the excitement was not nearly what it is today. The first Super Bowl, held in the Los Angeles Coliseum did not even sell out.
The game’s popularity took off from there as the New York Jets’ shocking defeat to the Baltimore Colts in Super Bowl III gave the AFL credibility. By 1974, the event had grown so much in popularity that Norman Vincent Peale said that if Christ were alive “he’d be at the Super Bowl.”
Super Bowl Sunday is the day on which the Super Bowl is played. It is usually on the last Sunday in January or the first Sunday in February and is sometimes referred to as a holiday.
